Why choose and ITC - in the canal hearing aid

There are number of different styles and models and advantages from hearing aids to choose from depending on your hearing loss and budget. You audiologist will be able to help you select the right hearing aid to suit your needs.  You can choose from and ITC hearing aid which stands for in the canal, BTE or behind the ear or CIC which is completely in the canal hearing aid.  ITC hearing aid fits into the ear canal.

ITC hearing aids are slightly larger than CIC aids but much small than ITE aids or in the ear devices.  You can select from a variety of ITC styles including programmable hearing aids, digital hearing aids and conventional hearing aids.  These are not cheap hearing aids so you may have to plan in advance before buying them.

Advantages of an ITC hearing aid is that they are aesthetically appealing because they are small and they offer natural sound reception because the microphone is in the ear canal.  Some disadvantages are they are only good for people who suffer from mild to moderately severe hearing loss.  They often use smaller hearing aid batteries making them harder to manipulate and you may get feedback because the mike and receiver are close together.  Again, check with your audiologist to find the right hearing aid for you.
